Thoughts on Personalized Religion
I think what a lot of current people get wrong with their religious practices are that they neglect the part of the experience that is deeply personal and self-serving. Communicating with your "god" should not be a stressful or guilty effort. The point of conversing in any sort of way with a higher being should be about sitting with your desires with something so beyond that.
I pray to the moon. Praying makes it sound more grand then it actually is, but when I feel like I need to sort out something, whether that's a stir in my soul or a present issue, I go outside, look at the moon, and sing. Maybe speak. It's all about focusing on the feeling. The great part about connecting to the moon is the fact I know it's so much bigger than me and can't care about my problems. Seeing that celestial body so far from what I'm stewing in helps me to separate myself from my situation, in whatever way I see fit. There's a real benefit to trying it!
I heavily encourage that next time you're really struggling with anything, you go outside alone, chill with the moon, and really be honest with yourself. It made me feel a lot better.
